Dear Valued Olympus Customer,
Thank you for your continued business with Olympus Corporation. As part of our efforts for continuous improvement and the safe use and operation of our products, we would like to inform you of the following announcement related to your Laser devices for biological microscopes.
Laser devices for our microscopes could have been delivered without the parts known as; Safety Collars and or a Connector Locking Screw. These parts provide added security at the laser cable connector, between the laser head and the laser power supply unit. Both parts are added safety features that help prevent accidental disconnection while the laser is energized.
Should the cable be disconnected between the laser head or the laser power supply without turning the power supply off, the possibility of an electric shock can occur. This possible shock hazard is located between the cable connection and the chassis of either the laser head or the laser power supply. We are informing all customers of this situation and asking them to check their system to make sure that these items are installed properly as shown in the diagrams below. Please note that we have not had any reports of problems or customer injury.
If you have any of the products mentioned below, please contact Olympus Representative or your Authorized Olympus dealer. In the event you need to disconnect the cable between the laser head and the laser power supply for any reason, please contact your local Olympus representative to have the appropriate safety devices installed.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please contact your local Olympus representative to answer any questions you might have.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
