Cancer tissue is a complex composition of multiple cell types, including normal, neoplastic, and reactive cells (McManus et al., 2014). ln advanced disease, tumor cells can leave the primary tumor and form metastasis (EI-Heliebi et al., Nucleic Acid Nanotheranostics 2019). Metastatic disease is the major cause for cancer related death. To understand the process of metastasis formation, it is crucial to comprehend the mechanisms of tumor growth, invasion, and dissemination.
ln this webinar, I will introduce our spatial transcriptomics approach to investigate predictive biomarkers in colon cancer and disease relapse. I will show an imaging-based in situ sequencing approach that enables the visualization and quantification of greater than 200 different RNA transcripts directly on formalin fixed and paraffin embedded cancer tissue.
