The heart of the FLUOVIEW FV1200 laser scanning microscope is the scanning unit itself. The filter-type detector unit includes three confocal channels as standard. The scanning unit, tube lens and pupil projection lens are combined in a single compact unit featuring new high performance silver-coated galvanometer scanning mirrors with high reflectance across a broad range of wavelengths. All filters feature a special coating, providing superior curve steepness and wavelength band transmission. The integrated pupil projection lens, photomultiplier and analog processing circuit provide enhanced performance sensitivity with a high S/N ratio.

The design of this detector unit is unique as it integrates the scanning unit, tube lens and pupil projection lens into a single compact unit. Use of the microscope fluorescence illuminator light path ensures the highest coupling efficiency without limiting the expandability of the microscope itself. Visible, UV and IR laser introduction ports are featured.
Anti-oxidization silver coating ensures durability and improves reflection efficiency in both excitation and emission with the set of two galvanometer scanning mirrors, increasing the reflectance in the visible range by 5 - 15%, and IR reflectance up to 22%.
The incorporation of highly stable galvanometer scanner mirrors and an Olympus original acceleration circuit enables high speed imaging of 16 fps for a 256x256 image format or 38 fps for smaller image formats.
High performance mirrors with a new ion sputter coating have been introduced in all emission filters and dichromatic mirror units. This original Olympus technology achieves superior signal throughput with better out-of-band rejection to provide better signal-to-noise ratio than would be possible with the conventional vacuum deposition method.
Conventional raster scanning cannot always complete the photobleaching process quickly. The unique Tornado scanning ability of our SIM unit makes the procedure much more efficient and significantly reduces the necessary bleaching or activation time.
Laser light intensity is monitored and fed back to the acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTFs), helping to stabilize the excitation light during long-term (overnight) time lapse imaging.
Special high performance multi-alkali PMT selection in this scanning unit ensures high detection efficiency using reliable, well-proven PMT technology.
